The Writings and Thoughts of Douglas Thomas Garrett

I think it is fair to say that life proves unpredictable for most of us. Living and learning always includes adversity. Yet we do not all glean the same insights from our great and not-so-great experiences.

Before we give in to the urge to become cynical, bitter or depressed, we should remember, there is a God at work here. He has surrounded us with a set of laws, both spiritual and physical, both seen and unseen. Whether we are aware of them or not, or believe in them or not, makes utterly no difference to their application.

These irrevocable laws remain in effect and affect everything we do. Their purpose is to polish us to become gleaming diamonds – We can respond to the process   or we can stand impervious to all attempts to change us, leaving us as dross and refuse. The choice is ours.

Life has taught me that if I submit to God’s designs, I am made all  the better. Like the work wrought on a raw diamond, the chipping blows are intended to expose the real gem he knows is inside me.

The thoughts in this blog are about my experience with this Master Polisher and his process.
